February Lyivy Post Content
February is Heart Awareness Month.
Heart disease can sneak up on you!
Am I at risk? Risk factors include high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, and excessive alcohol use.
Cholesterol – a waxy, fat-like substance that is normal in the body, but too much can lead to heart disease.
Know your cholesterol levels. How? Your provider can draw blood and check your levels. Know them.
Blood Pressure also known as the “Silent Killer”. You may not even know you have it. Is your blood pressure closer to 120/80" src="https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/t7f/1/16/1f60a.png">

How can you reduce your chances of Heart disease? (1) Stay active, find an activity you like and do it more days of the week than not. Break a little sweat. (2) Eat a balanced diet. Add more fruits and vegetables to your diet. (3) Reduce stress. Develop daily relaxation techniques and develop self-awareness. Small steps.
Plan a visit with LyivyDHM to make sure your preventive measures are up to date, and you are getting quality preventive care provided? Sometimes things accidentally get missed. Catch them before they catch up with you!
