2024! Go through it and out of it healthier! Are you ready to go?  New year, and improved you!  What is your New Year’s resolution?  Resolutions are just not that easy to keep. Let’s look at why 23% of people make it past 1 week when setting a New Year’s resolution.  In 2024, plan to be one of those people that make it into week 2 and forward.

The most selected new year’s resolution per driveresearch for 2023 among respondents were:

1. fitness, with 48%

2. mental health, with 36%

3. finances with 38%

Very broad aspirations, and where is that blood pressure? According to the CDC, 1 in 4 people have their blood pressure in control with a blood pressure under 130/80, and nearly 50% of the population have hypertension, which are measures higher than 130/80. Under 120/80 is considered a normal blood pressure. A coach will help with the step by step processes to bring that blood pressure into a satisfactory range. Issues with any of those resolutions can affect your blood pressure. Even with the high number of people that have issues with hypertension, and it being considered the “silent killer”, it’s not listed as one of the top health conditions on most people’s minds. One actually needs to take a proactive approach to monitoring their BP. The blood pressure could be the trigger that helps get those other top resolutions in control.

Goals can be developed and met with a coach that will collaborate with you and help you meet your goals one step at a time.  Goals should be specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and timely.  This type of goal is considered a S.M.A.R.T goal.  Let’s look at an example.

A more specific goal could be that I will become more aware of my blood pressure and work to get it to an acceptable range by getting a blood pressure cuff so that I will be aware of what my average blood pressure is by the end of the week. Together, a plan could be put in place for moving forward as needed. Consider it a step by step process for changing behaviors to meet your goals.
